We contribute to growth by supporting the development of social impact investment, managing charity investments and support our communities through community investment and client philanthropy.

Wealth and Investment Management contributes to the Barclays 2015 Citizenship Plan by embedding a citizenship ethos into the way we do business, through our strategy, decision-making and investment management approach.

By partnering with high-performing and innovative charities and not-for-profit organisations globally, we have demonstrated our commitment to a diverse number of philanthropic initiatives. The firm provides a wide range of programmes to support our employees’ charitable efforts, from volunteering to gift-matching and grant-making.

5 Million Young Futures

'5 Million Young Futures' is Barclays commitment to invest not only money, but colleagues’ time and expertise in community programmes that enhance the enterprise, employability and financial skills of five million disadvantaged young people, aged 10 to 35, by 2015.

Community investment

In 2012, Barclays Group launched its ’Citizenship’ agenda with one of the pillars being ’Community Investment’. The Community Investment agenda was defined as focusing on empowering the next generation with skills to achieve economic independence and security, i.e. life, enterprise or financial skills. Our partnerships with Caritas Suisse, Paidos and Anhugar, reflect our engagement within the community in Geneva.

In Zurich we supported two key initiatives by taking a group of children from the ’Sunneblueme’ day care centre to the Zurich Zoo and volunteering with the commercially oriented social enterprise, St. Jakob Foundation.

In addition to this our employees support on a regular basis an important number of other initiatives. 2014 saw more than 650 hours of volunteer work with the overall objective of helping people in need (fundraising for Cancer and AIDS, collection of Christmas gifts for unprivileged and mentoring).
